Cundall Manor School - Harvest Celebrations

Bread was the theme of the harvest thanksgiving celebrations on Friday 3 October for youngsters at Cundall Manor School near Thirsk. The 100 or so 2 – 7 year olds brought their gifts to the service which took place in Cundall Manor Church on Friday afternoon,Mrs Amanda Kirby, Head of the school’s Pre-Prep department said: “The harvest thanksgiving is an important part of the children’s calendar and this year we had a theme of bread. The focus of the service was very much about saying thank you by looking at everyone who helps put the bread on our plates, from the farmer who grows the corn, to the miller, the baker and parents too. In addition the children have been learning about how to eat healthily and look after their bodies.” RS teacher Dan Sladden gave the address at the service and the children sang two songs, and a poem entitled “Bread” was read. And on Sunday, pupils from the Main School held their harvest service at nearby Topcliffe Church.
