Falcons Kit flies from Thirsk to Uganda
Second hand kit and sportswear donated by Thirsk Falcons Juniors is finding a new lease of life in Uganda. It might seem like just a few secondhand shirts, but to the young people in the Mpigi district of Uganda who end up wearing the kit it makes a huge difference. Kayiwa Sande of the Ballista Football Association of Mpigi (BFAM) explains: "It's quite great because it saved the players from playing half naked, and it makes the players look smart. Even the type of football they play becomes good and admirable."Football can be a life changing experience for the young players who join BFAM, many of whom are orphans and live with the coaches.Vaughan Lonsdale from Thirsk Falcons Juniors says the club hopes to extend its involvement with the Ugandan players: "This is a new idea for us at the Falcons, but having got the first package sent off we're collecting more and hope to send out a second parcel at the end of the season. We definitely see this as an ongoing initiative." Full Article Archived News View All...
