Great North Care Awards 2008

Gill Burn;  Thirsk Carers’ Support Co-ordinator and husband and wife Carers’ Support volunteer team,  Keith and Dorcas Hanson;  have become finalists in the Great North Care Awards which aim to celebrate excellence across the care sector.Gill was nominated under the Outstanding Contribution to Care Award section,  and Keith and Dorcas were nominated under the Home Care Worker Award.A Judging day was held on 9th October 2008 and all three have been invited, as finalists,  to attend a Gala dinner in York on 14th November, where the winners will be announced by BBC’s Look North TV presenter, Harry Gration.Thirsk Carers’ Support has been providing volunteer sitters for carers, enabling them to have a well-earned respite break, since November 1992; thanks to the hard work and dedication of Gill and all her team of volunteers.Robert Webb, Association Manager said  “We are proud that the vital contribution made by Gill, Keith and Dorcas to the needs of carers have been recognised in this way.  This further reflects the worth of all volunteers supporting Carers Support Projects.  We are all delighted at this marvellous achievement.”
