Harvest Festivals
It has come round to that time of year again but there must be a note of sadness amongst the farming community. They have been plagued by Blue Tongue, rising food prices, the weather and now the financial crisis, which is hitting the world. All my good wishes reach out to our farmers and people who provide our food. The chapels which we have visited have been well attended and the penultimate one Rievaulx certainly was an excellent evening. John and Sheila who are farming people living between Barnard Castle and Richmond took the Tuesday evening service which was so well presented and appealed to everybody young and old. Following the service we all went down to the village hall where there was an array of food waiting to be devoured. Following fellowship the produce from the Chapel was auctioned by David Sanderson. He always makes it a happy occasion and whilst putting in the odd bit of humour always obtains good prices. Gratitude to Rievaulx for yet another happy evening. We still have one more Harvest Festival which is a fortnight away and that is the one at Well, so there is still more to enjoy. Full Article Archived News View All...
