Huby Show in glorious sunshine
Huby and Sutton on the Forest Agricultural Society held their 116th Show on Sunday 27th July in glorious sunshine which was more than welcome after last year’s show being cancelled due to a flooded Show field.A record crowd enjoyed the weather as they watched a record number of entries in most classes. New this year were Fur and Feather classes which proved so successful that it hopefully is to become part of future Shows. Vintage cars and tractors were on show and were also paraded in the main ring. The childrens’s mounted Fancy Dress attracted a record number of entries and was also a very popular main ring attraction.Elaine Hill also delighted the crowd with her sheep dog and duck display.During the afternoon, Lady Sheffield and David Webster – Chairman of Ryedale District Council – presented the Rob Cass Trophy for Outstanding Contributions to the Show, to Malcolm Knowlson – Show President – in acknowledgement of his 50 years service to the Show The afternoon ended with a very entertaining children’s gymkhana and a very tired, hardworking committee.
