Picnic in the Park 2012

The seventh Picnic in the Park at Thirsk Hall was a great success with over 1,000 ticket sales, and the organisers were delighted that the weather was reasonable during the concert.  Thirsk Action Group’s Sue Calvert and Jane Burgess wish to thank the many supporters of the event, the funds go towards Action Medical Research.  The two local charities to receive donations this year are Thirsk Community Care and Thirsk Clock. The supporters of the evening came from as far afield as Scotland, and enjoyed a pleasant evening of Pimms and picnics in the Park, with friends and family. There were more children at the concert this year and they were delighted to meet Paddington Bear, the lucky mascot for Action Medical Research, Paddington’s helpers were giving away miniature bears! Judy McCourt of TFM presented the evening, and the performers had everyone on their feet dancing and singing along. With lighting and stage set organised by Steve Williams of Viking Sound and Light, the spectacular firework finale was accompanied by Andrea Boccelli. Pictures are available on the Picnic in the Park Website and Facebook page.  Sue and Jane wish to thank everyone who supported the event, particularly the sponsors  Steve Dresser Electrical Contractor, Darlington & Stockton Times, Beechwood Leisure, Calverts Carpets & F D  Todd Waste Management. Also thanks to CJN Publicity and Thirsk Rotary Club. You can follow on Facebook and Twitter to see plans for Picnic in the Park 2013.
