SCHOOLS SWIM TO SUCCESS

Schools from the Thirsk area battled it out in an end of term swimming competition arranged by Thirsk White Horse Swim Team.The second primary schools gala to be held at the pool saw 12 schools field teams.  Almost 100 youngsters competed in races ranging from single-length sprints to group relays involving up to eight swimmers.The schools were divided into two groups - ‘small schools’ and ‘large schools’.  All Saints, Pickhill, South Kilvington, St. Nicholas, Sutton-on-the-Forest and Topcliffe were pitted against each other in the small schools category whilst Carlton Miniott, Kirby Hill, Knayton, Sessay, Sowerby and Thirsk competed for the large schools prizes.After a close competition South Kilvington took the Small Schools trophy whilst Sowerby took top position in the Large Schools competition.Results and photographs from the event can be found at www.twhst.co.uk/results.
