Sowerby Music’s next concert in mid October sees the to Sowerby of the world class mandolin player Alison Stephens.A wonderful communicator and player, Alison will perform on three very different mandolins as well as demonstrating the Baglama and the Bandurria which are relatives of the Balalaika and the Bouzouki.Her programme will range from the Baroque era through romanticism to her own compositions including ‘Pelagrias March’ composed for the BBC4 dramatisation of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.Closely associated with the Hollywood version of the Louis de Bernieres novel, Alison has notably worked in the sell-out stage show of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin which has notched up more than 500 performances in over 100 different venues.A fascinating and dazzling performer, Alison’s concert in St Oswalds Church and promises to be an entertaining and enlightening event.
