Sowerby Music celebrates its 21st Birthday with an outstanding Festival of Music across next weekend. Two concerts, a Masterclass and a Supper Party with entertainment.The weekend revolves around the Sacconi Quartet who are in concert on the Saturday evening at 7.30pm along with cellist Rebecca Carrington. Their programme includes Beethoven and Tchaikovsky  and features the sublime Schubert String Quintet in C. The second concert is on the Sunday afternoon starting at 3pm. Here the Sacconi are joined by the outstanding young pianist Alexandra Dariescu in a programme of Ravel, Turina and the Schubert Piano Quintet in E flat.Each year the Young Concert Artists Trust selects just three top young musicians or ensembles at the start of their professional careers. For three years YCAT mentors and manages them giving them the best possible launch to stardom. Both the Sacconi Quartet and Alexandra Dariescu are current YCAT award recipients and therefore amongst the very finest young musicians in the country. The Public Masterclass is in St Oswalds Church, the venue for both the concerts, and starts at 11am. Three talented string ensembles, from York, Leeds and Harrogate will perform for and learn from the outstanding Sacconi Quartet.
