SPECIAL VISITORS

Thirsk played host to a unique collection of vehicles this week – when 19 jaguar cars dating from as far back as 1931 called into the town.As part of the Jaguar Drivers’ Club SS Register Tour 2008 local people were able to admire the cars while their owners paid a visit to The World of James Herriot.  Most of the cars date from the 30s and 40s with a few classic jaguars from the 50s and 60s and a handful of modern cars.  The SS Register looks after the interests of jaguars made between 1931 and 1951 and each year organises a series of tours – this year’s being around North Yorkshire.Manager of the World of James Herriot, Alison Scurrah is pictured with Arthur Clarke from Belfast.   His jaguar – a 1935 SS90 is one of only 23 ever made (being number 19) and is the oldest on the tour.
