Take A Peak

In the photograph is the Family Life Church Team (Jo, Ian and Lydia). On Saturday the 10th of July we are taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge which is a physically challenging 26 mile walk in North Yorkshire over the peaks of  Pen-y-Ghent (2267ft), Whernside (2388ft), and Ingleborough (2372ft).We have decided to take on this challenge to raise funds for a charity called Christians Against Poverty and are all committed to raising as much money as possible.Christians Against Poverty is a national charity working in partnership with local churches across the UK. CAP, as it is commonly known, provides top quality debt management and counselling service and works with its clients to relieve the pressure of debt and teach them to manage money so as to provide a better understanding of finances and ultimately a better quality of life. You can obtain more information about CAP from www.capuk.org “There’s no poverty in Britain” some people would say, but is it not poverty when a mother does without food for days so that she can feed her children because she cannot afford to pay her bills and buy enough food for the full family. Is it not poverty when a person hides behind locked doors and drawn curtains afraid to make a sound just in case the collectors are outside waiting to harass them for payments? This happens every day, every hour in someone’s life not in poor countries around the world but here in our supposedly civilised homeland. So please miss your morning coffee in your favourite coffee house for one day and dig deep. HELP us to HELP the people who HELP, whether 50p or £50.00 every penny goes to the people who need it. So if only once in life you decide to be as generous as you can let it be NOW.To donate now go to www.justgiving.com/flc-team  or by cheque payable to CAP UK posted to 69, Sowerby Road,Thirsk YO7 1HU.
