Thirsk Falcons Fun Day

More than 120 children took part in Thirsk Falcons Junior Football Club's annual fun day last Sunday (15 July). The rain stayed away, allowing the children to take part in a variety of activities, including the Falcons' own Euro Championships which England won in several age groups without having to go to penalties. Middlesbrough FC's Fitness Bus was on site, thanks to support from North Yorkshire County Council, and the children enjoyed using the speed cage to find out how fast they could kick a football. The youngest children taking part were just three years old, as part of the Falcons Fledglings group which promotes enjoyment of football and a healthy lifestyle to those between three and six. It was good to see some new faces getting involved with the club, and we hope they'll be back again when the new season kicks off.Club Chairman Vaughan Lonsdale said "It was a fantastic day, the sun was out and the fields were full. All in all a successful event and maybe our best yet, thanks to the efforts of the organising team led by Debbie Ingoldsby."To find out more about Thirsk Falcons Juniors visit their website.
