Thirsk Thunder Basketball Club - July 2008
Thirsk Thunder Basketball Club has grown to a local membership of over 240 members since it was founded only 3 years ago. Members recently celebrated their successes at the annual presentation night. The impressive list of successes from the year includes:5 youngsters selected to represent Yorkshire11 players selected for North Yorkshire teamsU14 boys team playing in the National League Men’s team competing in the Teesside league helped by sponsorship from GSM graphics. Craig Wakefield, Head Coach said ‘It’s been a fantastic year and I’m really proud of all the achievements. As well as seeing the standards rise we’ve also had a lot of fun!’ Local Primary school players battled against each other all year for South Kilvington boys to raise the trophy after a nail-biting shoot-out. Carlton Miniott girls emerged to victory after more closely contested matches. Jill Miller of Luke Miller Associates presented the trophies.Thirsk Thunder Basketball Club trains at Thirsk High School on Monday and Thursday evenings and at primary schools throughout the year.
