Thirsk U12 Girls November 2nd 2008 - Halifax

The day was a great success for the u12s.Melody Swiers set them off to a good start with her goal in the 1st game resulting in a 1-0 win over Brigg 1.The defense was faultless all day with both Maisy Bradbury and Hope Hagen working superbly together, Hope managing to take the ball confidently down the right wing on many occasions.Esther Walpole was a very strong and positive influence in the centre midfield managing to support Melody as she pushed forward and using the width to good effect.  Georgina Watkiss battled hard and strong constantly in every game, along with Rosie Taylor and Connie Hayward on the wings, pushing forward well in support. There were a few goal mouth tussles which were very close to resulting in more goals, just not quite crossing the line.The 3rd game of the day was an excellent show of team hockey with all girls coming together wonderfully. A well worked short corner giving them a well deserved goal off Maisy Bradbury, shortly followed by Melody Swiers 2nd goal of the day, leaving the score a very well deserved 2-0 win.Due to such a great team effort and good vision from all concerned, 1st time goalie, Gemma Reynard managed to keep a clean sheet. This moves Thirsk U12 girls into Division B for next month’s hockey.The final results were 1 – 0 win Brigg0 – 0 draw Driffield2 – 0 win Bradford0 – 0 draw Wakefield0 – 0 draw Kirklees
