Yorkshire Skipper Sets New Boundaries
July 2008 will be a month which lives long in the memory of Yorkshire Women’s Cricket Association U15 captain, Jessica Watson. Besides being captain of the U15 team, Jess also has the honour of leading the YWCA U13 team which is set to reach the next stage of the U13 County Championship. When playing against Durham U13 at New Farnley on 25th July, Jess played a high class innings, scoring 119 not out, her maiden century. The following Monday, she became the first girl ever to play in a York & District Senior Cricket League representative team in the Lords’ Taverners Competition. Jess can reasonably have every expectation to go on to greater achievements within the game providing that she remains focused, keeps practising and doesn’t get carried away by paper-talk!
